If you're looking for a way to serve, or something interesting to do this summer, this is a wonderful opportunity!
From our friend Connie Bajerski, the Marketing Director of the Idaho International Choral Festival, coming to Pocatello July 14th-20th:
We have 7 choirs coming from 4 continents! We are still in need of host families for our guests. This is such a fabulous opportunity to welcome folks from abroad to your home and to our community. Please consider volunteering in this way. Past host families have reported that they've forged life-long friendships with their guests and that the experience was truly a highlight of their lives. Here's what it would involve:
Providing beds for at least two guests
Meeting them on July 14, 2026 at the Stephens Performing Arts Center rotunda when they arrive in Pocatello and taking them home.
Providing dinner on July 14 and breakfast on July 15, 16, 17, 18, 19, and 20
Dropping them off on the ISU campus at about 8:30 AM and picking them up at about 9:30 PM on July 15, 16, and 17
Providing lunch, dinner, and activities on July 18, with a drop-off and pick-up at the Stephens Performing Arts Center for a 30 minute rehearsal. Then, dropping them off again for the concert.
Providing transportation to and from a local church during the morning of July 19 for their choir's participation in the worship service. This is tentative.
Providing a potluck side dish for the closing picnic on Sunday afternoon, July 19, as well as transportation and participation in the picnic activities. This will be at Ross Park.
Transportation to their choir's bus pick-up location on Monday, July 20.
Note: you and those in your household will receive free admission to all Festival concerts.
If you are considering serving as a host family, please go to the IICF Website idahointerchoralfest.org Scroll down and click "About the Festival", then click on "Housing". Fill in your information, and McKenzi Warnok (the IICF Housing Manager) will contact you. Even if you're not sure yet, please fill in the information so McKenzi can add you to her list of possible hosts. For those who do not want to deal with our website, you may contact Pauline Anderson (the IICF Secretary) at or (208) 589-0350. She will forward your name and contact information to McKenzi.
That's all for now. Again, please consider hosting two or more of our IICF guests. It is a wonderful way to share friendship through hospitality and music.
Sincerely,
Connie Bajerski
(and Barbara Kurtz, Executive Director of the IICF and former PCCS educator)
