Every PCCS student will have weekly homework in the areas of math, reading, and/or language arts on most regular weeks. T he type of homework will vary depending on teacher discretion and the individual student’s needs. Most assignments sent home must be returned the next week, especially for older students. Homework details are provided by the individual crew leader. The purpose of weekly homework is three-fold:
Please encourage your child to manage his/her time wisely at home so that the majority of homework is not left until the last minute. Students at every age need help developing effective time management skills. Please make sure that there is a clean and quiet place in your home for your child to complete his/her homework. If you or your child have questions about a homework assignment, please contact your child’s crew leader as soon as possible. It is not the intention of any PCCS crew leader to send work home that is confusing or inappropriate. Although it is perfectly fine to answer clarifying questions for your child or provide occasional assistance, please let the crew leader know if your child is having great difficulty completing homework independently. An after-school study hall is available on Tuesday and Thursday afternoon from 3:20-4:20. Students of all ages and ability levels are welcome to attend. Study hall offers a clean and quiet place to work. PCCS staff members and volunteers are available to offer assistance to students who need help completing homework or other assignments. Please drop by the PCCS office to pick up a permission slip. We must have a permission slip signed by a parent or guardian before a student is eligible to attend study hall. |
